I am a huge animal person. So if you ask me if you can include your dogs in your engagement session I will never say no. I might get distracted and start rolling around with them in the grass, but I will never say no. I’m also a bit of a wine lover, so when Justine and Rob told me then wanted to do their engagement session at a wine tasting room and then at the park with their dogs I was very excited.

We started their session at D’Argenzio Winery in Burbank, where Rob knows the owner and we had the whole place to ourselves! It’s not the biggest place, but very cozy and a perfect setting to start off our session. After a couple of glasses of wine, we head out to pick up the dogs and go to the park. Rob & Justine’s dogs were very excited to be out and were very photogenic! My favorite part of this session is when I told Justine to “give him a kiss” and she learns forward and kisses one of the dogs, when I was referring to her fiance. Rob ended up getting his kiss too, but it was a very funny moment.

I can’t wait to photograph their wedding!

Pasadena Headshots – I recently had the pleasure of photographing some headshots for my friend Alec. He is not only an actor, but a stuntman and a martial artist. (We currently train together at Larry Tatum’s Kenpo Karate in Sierra Madre.) When I photographed his session in Old Town Pasadena I not only shot the standard headshots, but got him some body shots and threw in some martial arts. Now he has a variety of shots to use depending on the role for which he’s trying out.

When we started the session Alec mention that he’s never worked with a photographer that he knew prior to a shoot, and was curious if it would be any different working with me. I always try and make sure my clients are comfortable and relaxed during our sessions, but it is even easier when I already know the people I’m photographing. I think Alec was more relaxed and we were able to bring out his personality a bit more. I know he loves these shots and I hope they help him land the roles he goes after.

Los Angeles Engagement Photography – Here’s some love to start your week off right! Eddie & Terry are truly great to work with and it’s very obvious there’s a lot of love between them. Eddie and I are fraternity brothers so I was greatly honored that he called me to photograph. We had discussed a number of options for their engagement session, but when Eddie & Terry suggested the following locations I was very excited, as two of these have been on my list for a long time.

We started at Disney Concert Hall (toward the end of the images), where we incorporated some Starbucks into a few shots, as that is were these two had their first date. They have known each other since middle school, but reconnected later in life. We then moved just down the street to Grand Park where there is an amazing view of City Hall, as well as a massive fountain with color changing lights and jets that shoot up from the ground. I love adventurous couples, as I’m up for anything, even if it means getting a little wet. (Find me on Instagram to check out some behind the scenes images: www.instagram.com/adamparth)

We then finished the night at the Urban Lights display at LACMA. This place has been on my list to photograph for years, the trouble is that it is widely used and always busy. I think we did a pretty good job and get something different and keeping the crowds out of the shots.

I can’t wait for their Santa Barbara Court House wedding! (And happy birthday Terry!)

Glendale Bat Mitzvah Photography – I truly enjoyed working with Ava and her mom! They are both artistic/creative people so we understood each other well. Prior to the Bat Mitzvah was shot a fantastic beach and vintage camera portrait session. (View it here: Ava’s Portrait Session)

Ava’s Bat Mitzvah was held at Temple Sinai in Glendale and it was amazing how their staff and DJ, Michael Jotkowitz transformed the banquet area using brightly colored drapes and uplight. It was a great time filling with family and friends. I can’t wait to work with Ava on her album!

Disneyland Maternity Session – I love this session! Not only is it Disney, but it’s with some of my closest friends! Martin & Nicki were blessed with Jeremy (really awesome kid, always smiling), just over a year ago, and as of last week, they’re now blessed with another, Ella. A couple weeks prior to Ella’s arrival we photographed this maternity session at Downtown Disney in Anaheim, Ca. When Nicki was pregnant with Jeremy, we did their session inside the park (Jeremy’s Maternity Session), but with a family of 4 to worry about, these long time Disney lovers had to give up their annual passes. No matter, Downtown Disney, the Disneyland Hotel, and The Grand California created a fantastic setting!

Of course we had to make sure Ella had a set of Mickey ears to match her brother. Once that was taken care of, we started in a great lounge area at the Disneyland Hotel (after a group shoot with goofy), followed by some shots in front of a castle mural, then outside with the sorcerer’s hat, then some fantastic shots inside The Grand Californian (I love this place, I was married here).

I’m looking forward to Ella’s newborn session! Congratulations Martin, Nicki, Jeremy, & Ella!

On a technical note: This is the second time I got to use my new Rapid Box Speedlight Softbox by Westcott. Love the soft light it creates!
