Lou and Marc’s wedding was fantastic, if not a bit of a whirlwind! The wedding was originally scheduled for September, but due to an illness in the family the wedding was moved up to the end of March. Not a problem. It was amazing what brother of the groom/bestman/planner Nathan was able to put together at the beautiful Island Hotel in Newport Beach. Much like their engagement session (I’ll post it soon, wanted to save it), the ceremony and reception areas were filled with crystals. There was a very glamorous feel to the event.

Since this was a Jewish wedding and we had a ketubah signing happening before the ceremony, we set up a first look for Marc & Lou. With Marc in the lobby, Lou traveling down in the elevator, exiting, and tapping Marc on the shoulder. Needless to say he was very happy to see his bride. I went to high school with Marc and his brother Nathan, so I was honored to capture this momentus occasion. There was a lot of friendship and family love surrounding the entire day.

Congratulations Lou & Marc!

Thousand Oaks Bar Mitzvah Photography – Colin is a cool kid; simply put, that’s what he is. He’s polite, kind, caring, and loved by his family and friends. Both Julia and I were really impressed with how he interacted with us and everyone at his Bar Mitzvah. He also has some mad soccer skills. Check out Colin’s soccer portrait session here: Colin’s Portrait Session

He did a fantastic job, both with the service and at the reception. Colin hand drew all the soccer team logos that were used to create the center pieces as well as artwork that went on his invitation, tallit bag, and temple programs. If you haven’t figured it out yet, Colin is a huge soccer fan. His parents even surprised his with a personalized video from one of the LA Galaxy players (check out the surprise on his face below).

There was also the largest foosball table I have ever seen. It was about 3 times the normal size (wish we had that back in college). When not playing table soccer, guests were moving on the dance floor thanks to entertainment company Oh Watta Night. Truly an outstanding event for a deserving and appreciative kid. Congratulations Colin!

Woodland Hills Bat Mitzvah Photography – Valley Beth Shalom, Hilton Woodland Hills

I had a very difficult time narrowing things down to what you see below (always a good problem to have). We had some great locations in and surrounding the Woodland Hills Hilton, plus Sydney had a beautiful masquerade mask, so we shot with and without the mask. I have a number of portrait shots that are simply fantastic (even more than shown). Sydney is very photogenic, something I discovered during her pre-Bat Mitzvah portrait session (I’ll do another post from that session soon).

We originally shot at Valley Beth Shalom with immediately family and grandparents. It was really interesting to see that Sydney and her family had a family torah, with which we had the opportunity to photograph. It was a smaller torah, which Sydney had a much easier time holding.

For the reception we rounding things out with extended family in the beautiful remodeled lobby of the Hilton. Once all that was done, it was time to party. Sydney make her grand entrance by being carried in to the room. It was amazing to watch the entire family dance for hours (this was a nonstop kind of event). I was even able to capture Sydney sliding across the dance floor in the socks provided for the kids.

It was a great night for all and I can’t wait to share the rest of the photos with the family! Congratulations Sydney!

DJ – Coming Soon

He stood alone in the vineyard, away from the prying eyes of family and guests. His back turned, as to not spoil the surprise. She approached him and touched his shoulder. He was awestruck the moment he turned around, seeing his bride for the first time. Lost within her, it took a moment for him to come back to reality, realizing the vision in front of him was his reality. They embraced, smiled, and shared a kiss.

This was Tony and Charlett seeing each other for the first time on their wedding day at Grace Vineyards. The emotion felt in this moment lasted throughout the entire day. It was very apparent how deeply these two feel. Not just about each other, but for their family and friends. I’ve realized there is something very special when I’m able to capture true emotion.

In addition to the genuine emotion, all the details and the location were simply amazing! We had a vineyard, homemade jam, a surprise groom’s cake, sparklers, a 1948 Pontiac (also a surprise from Charlett to Tony), and a balloon release. What you see here is just a small sampling, as I had a very hard time narrowing down which photos to post. (I may end up doing a second post…)

I’ve know Tony for many years and it was truly an honor capturing his and Charlett’s wedding day. Congratulations Tony & Charlett!
