I recently second shot a wedding at the beautiful and massive St. Regis Monarch Beach Resort in Dana Point. This place is huge. I ended up taking two different elevtors to the wrong place (two different wrong places) before I finally found the correct elevator. Keep in mind, I have a great sense of direction.
The one thing I always find difficult about second shooting a wedding (besides getting lost at the venue) is that I don’t know the couple. I don’t know their personalities or the stories behind the little things they put into the day. Thankfully I adapt easily. I started the day photographing with Frank, the groom, and his groomsmen as they adorned their cowboy duds. Then off to the wedding and reception which overlooked a golf course and the ocean off in the distance. The sunset lit up the clouds in beautiful hues of pink and orange, making for a wonderful backdrop.
The are so many great place to photograph at the St. Regis, I hope I have the opportunity to photograph there again.
