Sean & Sally were very excited to try a trash the dress session. When I suggested grape stomping, knowning their love of wine and the use of wine corks for name cards at their wedding, they jumped at the chance.
We were originally set up to have them stomp grapes at a different winery, but when I arrived to photograph I found Sean and Sally cleaning out the barrel themselves. It was fully of leaves, bugs, and general muck. There was also old set of wooden stairs that took up most of the space in the barrel and had rusty nails sticking out of it. Needless to say, we rescheduled and found another winery. Wilson Creek Winery in Temecula was happy to accomidate us.
We woke up early on a Sunday morning, Julia and I picked up Sean & Sally, and we drove Temecula (I go the extra mile for my clients – pun totally intended). Julia and I had been to Wilson Creek once before and it is an amazing property (I really want to photograph a wedding there!). There was a small barrel set up for us with actual wine grapes (we had to bring our own to the first place). Though I was hoping for a larger barrel, we made it work. Sally had bought a second dress for this shoot and the lace just soaked up the grape juice (some from the grapes, some the the bottles of grape juice we added for effect). Sean forgot his dress shirt, but since things were going to get messy anyway, we had him put on his tie and had some fun.
